In case you missed the news over the weekend, Historic Bok Sanctuary doesn’t exist anymore. No, they didn’t go anywhere, they just changed their name. It is now Bok Tower Gardens, a throwback to their old name. Bok officials cited research that was done showing that visitors identify more with the name Bok Tower Gardens.
After extensive research revealed that Bok Tower Gardens was being used four times more often than Historic Bok Sanctuary, the board of directors of The Bok Tower Gardens Foundation, Inc. voted to change the name at its recent board meeting.
Like most name changes, it may take some time to get used to using the new name, so anytime you catch me using the “old” name in a post, just call me out on it and I will pay you $1 for each use.
So to sum up: New name, same beautiful gardens.

Historic Bok Sanctuary – hmmm.
Growing up in the area, I visited Bok Tower many times. From field trips with school groups, Sunday School events, to trips with my mom, the grounds are magical and bring back floods of pleasant memories.
Though the name changed briefly, there is nothing that can change the beauty and mystique of the gardens, the tower and Pinewood Estates. The staff has done a wonderful job keeping the spirit of the grounds that were originally intended.
So now, I don’t have to keep correcting myself every time I refer to this location, as I never could quite wrap my arms around sanctuary. Bok Tower – that’s wonderful to hear!
