The Downtown Lakeland Partnership just announced in their Summer 2008 newsletter that Segway Tours of Lakeland will be available starting in August. From the article:
Segway of Central Florida and Downtown Farmers Curb Market’s own Jim Luna are partnering to bring Segway Tours to Lakeland! “We have such a beautiful city,” says Luna. “Segway tours will be a big draw. Folks from all over the state are looking to ride segways and take tours.”
It looks like Historic Tours, Lake Tours and more will be offered starting in August. For more information, or to book your tour now, contact Dave Holzapfel of Segway of Central Florida at 352.383.9900 or by email at segwayofcentralflorida@yahoo.com.
This sounds like a great idea for downtown Lakeland. Do you know of any other communities in Polk County that are thinking of starting these? Have you ever taken a segway tour in another community?

I took one of these tours last weekend and it was fantastic! Very easy to learn to ride and beautiful scenery. They are set up at the Downtown Lakeland Farmers market every Saturday from 8am to 2pm

I’ve just taken a Segway tour of downtown Indianapolis & was thrilled to see that we will be having this in Lakeland! I look forward to going to the Farmer’s Market & checking it out.
