Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland recently purchased three new glass pieces for its Permanent Collection, and all three of them are currently on display in the Museum’s lobby.
Two of the pieces are by internationally know master glass artist Dale Chihuly. Chihuly’s work has been displayed all over the world, but probably one of his most famous installations is the ceiling of the Bellagio’s lobby in Las Vegas.
The third piece is by Ginny Ruffner, one of the most prominent female glass artists working in the US.
The pieces were purchased through the Museum’s Art Resource Trust, a group of Museum supporters whose sole purpose is to purchase great pieces of art for the Museum’s Permanent Collection, and through private donations.
Stop by and see them! They’re especially beautiful when the sun is coming in through the windows behind them.
