Sun n Fun Day 3 – Earth Day at Sun n Fun

As the sun rises on the third day (actually the second day of the actual Fly in), it is Earth Day around the world…and at Sun n Fun. For the first time ever, Earth Day falls on one of the days of SNF and the air show is joining in the celebration. SNF has a “Green Space”  (photos later) in the Southeast exhibit area that features an electric airplane, a hybrid Ford Fusion and lots of kids activities. Here are the other big things on tap for today:

• Dan Cherry and Nguyen Hong My will reunite this afternoon and will also be the subject of tonight’s evening program in the AOPA Pavilion. The story of the two pilots is pretty amazing. Cherry shot down My’s MiG during a battle in Vietnam and My survived. The two reunited earlier this year and they will reunite once again at SNF today. See the entire story here.
• The 3pm air show will feature the Red Bull Helicopter as well as the usual lineup of high flying acrobatic pilots.
