Free “Park”ing July 19
Posted on July 15th, 2009 by Kris Keprios
On Sunday, July 19, the state of Florida is waiving admission to all state parks. That means you can enjoy any of the state parks in Sunny Central Florida (Colt Creek, Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek and Lake Kissimmee) on that day with your family without the normal charge. In addition to offering free entrance on Sunday, July 19, for National Parks and Recreation Month, the Florida Park Service will also offer free entrance to visitors with a library card or with the donation of a new or gently used family friendly book on Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, for State Park Literacy Month and on November 11 for Veteran’s Day.
“Florida’s award-winning state park system is one of the best in the country, providing high quality recreation at an unmatched value,” said DEP Secretary Michael W. Sole. “By offering free entrance to state parks on July 19, and encouraging state park visitation throughout National Parks and Recreation Month, we hope to foster a deeper appreciation of our state’s natural resources and the recreational, historical and cultural value parks contribute to our great state.”

It would be a good idea for those of us who are new to the area (and there are many in Florida) if the tags would take you to a map of where these parks are or perhaps somewhere else on this page to show where theses parks are for anyone that is interested.

Thanks for your comment Catherine. In the main post, there are links that take you directly to each state park’s website and they have maps, directions and other information there. Just click on the name of the park in the post and it will take you straight there.
