The Terrace Turns Green
Posted on August 24th, 2009 by Kris Keprios
Everyone says “Green is the new Black” and The Terrace Hotel in downtown Lakeland agrees. They were recently awarded their Palm 1 designation for a Green Hotel from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Green Lodging Program. The Terrace Hotel is the first hotel in Lakeland to receive this designation.
The Florida Green Lodging Program was established in 2004 by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) with the intent of recognizing and rewarding environmentally conscientious lodging facilities in the state. Through this rapidly growing program DEP encourages the lodging industry to conserve and protect Florida’s natural resources. The Florida Green Lodging Program covers an all-inclusive list of environmental initiatives that are specific to the Florida environment.
In addition to this recent designation, The Terrace is also on the list of Historic Hotels in America and is a Preferred Boutique Hotel.

This is great news! I look forward to seeing more Polk County Hotels going green. So many people visit Polk County enjoy the outdoors that it only makes sense that the hotels add to the experience.
