Family Fun for Everyone at Bok Tower Gardens

Celebrate summer with Bok Tower Gardens and their addition of family-fun summer events and special admission offers.
Through August 31
-Kids are invited to participate in the Kids Photography Contest.
Favorite photos from the Gardens need to be uploaded boktowergardens.org/contest. Each week’s winner will be entered into the People’s Choice Awards to win an 8×10 canvas print of their winning photograph. Photos must have been taken at the Gardens in the last 6 months and must be 1MB or larger.
Through September 30
-Visitors save 10 percent on combo admission tickets with the purchase of two or more by using the discount code: SUMMER2012 on www.Bok TowerGardens.org.
-Florida residents receive $2 off the regular $12 gate admission.
-Motorcyclists receive the “Bike to Bok” buy one-get-one-free admission.
-Free admission on birthdays with valid identification.
June 30
-The movie “Hugo” kicks off the new Flicks in the Gardens series at 8:30 p.m.
Bring a picnic, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy this summer evening under the stars of the Great Lawn. Movies are included with $5 admission to the Gardens beginning at 5 p.m.
July 4
-All branches of the military (active, retired and disabled veterans) receive free admission with vaild identification.
-The national “Let Freedom Ring 2012” festivities will be celebrated.
Guest carillonneur Lee Cobb will perform carillon concerts at 1 and 3 p.m. and the Singing Tower will ring 13 times at 2 p.m., simultaneously joining other carillons, courthouses, city halls and church bells across America, including the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
July 11
-Discovery Days Great Escapes begins with “Holes” by Louis Sacchar from 10 a.m. to noon.
Children ages 6-12 will discover nature’s joy during a literary escape into the Gardens while playing outside and making new friends. Each week will feature a new book during a playful and informal approach to reading and nature appreciation. Parents are invited to join their children as they participate in each program. Reservations are required. The fee is $10 per class or $55 for all 6 classes. The series continues each Wednesday through August 15.
July 21
-The movie “Miracle” kicks off the new Flicks in the Gardens series at 8:30 p.m.

September 8
-“Bark” Tower Gardens’ Dog Day of Summer will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.
Leashed and friendly dogs are invited to visit the Gardens for one special day. Judges will select the cutest, most unusual, owner look-a-like, most talented and best kisser. Dog grooming tips, health, safety and adoption information will be available. Dog admission is $5 per dog and includes doggie gift bag; 50 percent of the proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Polk County. Regular human admission rates apply.
September 9
-Grandparents receive free admission on Grandparent’s Day.
