-Join Bok Tower Gardens for a special presentation of educational documentaries by PBS on Mondays & Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Visitor Center Theater.
-The film is: Volcano Above the Clouds.

Haunted Hanger Walking Tour
Dates:
Monday, October 1–Wednesday, October 31
Venue:
Fantasy of Flight–Polk City
-Throughout the month of October, visitors to Central Florida’s premier aviation-themed attraction, can take a spine-tingling walk through the spooky side of Fantasy of Flight.
-This new creepy tour unravels eerie stories of aviation lore—mysteries from the famous Lost Squadron to Lindbergh’s spectral companions… all guaranteed to add a supernatural gleam to the World’s Greatest Aircraft Collection.

ISO “From Russia With Love”

-The ISO 2012-2013 Masterworks Series “Symphonic World Tour” is designed to take the audience on a musical journey around the globe.
-The first stop, “From Russia With Love”, features guest artist Scott Klucksdahl on the cello.

Barefoot in the Park

-
Polk State College Theatre Presents Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park”.

Central Florida NatureFest 2012
Dates:
Thursday, October 4–Sunday, October 7
Venue:
Circle B Bar Reserve–Lakeland and locations throughout Polk
-Participate in activities including birding, hiking, kayaking, butterfly and wildflower viewing, nature photography, star gazing and air boat tours.
-This nature weekend is packed with excursions led by area wildlife experts who have years of knowledge and passion about their fields of expertise.

-ANNIE, everyone’s favorite orphan, is back on stage at Theatre Winter Haven after a decade.
-A whole new generation of families can experience one of the world’s most best-loved musicals about never giving up.

2012 Bloodhound Bash

Venue:
Downtown Auburndale
-The City of Auburndale and Auburndale High School are proud to present the 2012 Bloodhound Bash, an event known as “The world’s largest pep rally”
-The homecoming celebration will feature a parade at 7:00 p.m. and entertainment by The Imperial Sound of Auburndale High School.
-High school clubs will be onsite vending food, drinks, and merchandise.

Collectorama

The Lakeland Center
-National dealers will be on hand to buy, sell and trade coins, currency, collectibles and antiques.
-This event will feature new state park quarters, new presidential dollars, hobby supplies, commemorative coinage, a virtual museum of America’s past, hourly door prizes, free parking and fun the whole family can enjoy.

Fantasy of Flight’s Boy Scout Aviation Camporee

Friday, October 5–Sunday, October 7
Venue: Fantasy of Flight–Polk City
-The weekend presents a unique and unforgettable opportunity for Scouts to earn their American Heritage badge amidst one of the world’s largest private vintage aircraft collection, including 40 rare and vintage aircraft, many of which have been restored to flying condition.

First Friday

-Every month, on the first Friday of the month, people from all over converge in Downtown Lakeland for an evening of FREE family friendly entertainment, activities, live music, art receptions, a car show, and the chance to check out a great, locally-owned restaurant or retail establishment.
-October’s theme is: “Celebrating National Heart of the Arts Month”.

Pickin’ In the Park

Central Park–Downtown Winter Haven
-On the first Friday of every month, Winter Haven Hospital and the City of Winter Haven host a free community music event in downtown Central Park.
-Pickin’ In the Park is a family-friendly sing-a-long with song books provided.

Brick-or-Treat
Dates:
Saturday, October 6–Sunday, October 7
Venue: LEGOLAND® Florida–Winter Haven
-Brick-or-Treat comes to LEGOLAND® Florida every Saturday and Sunday in October.
-This spooky, kooky event features themed treat stations with candy, snacks and a few surprises along the way.

Buckler’s Arts & Craft Show

Venue:
The Lakeland Center
-For over 20 years Buckler Promotions has held exceptional indoor craft shows and extravaganzas throughout Florida.
-This arts & craft show features hundreds of award winning exhibitors and thousands of enthusiastic craft loving shoppers.

Grillin’ and Chillin’ at Lake Alfred

Saturday, October 6
Venue:
Lions Park–Lake Alfred
-Free admission and free parking to this annual BBQ competition with cash prizes and trophies.
-Also enjoy local crafts and vendors, kids’ activities and live entertainment to include: Joey Foley and Midnight Clogging Express, Jeff “Bull” Ferguson, and Un-4-Given.

The 3rd Polk Authors and Illustrators Festival

Saturday, October 6
Venue: The General Store–Lakeland
-The Polk Authors and Illustrators Festival is an event designed to showcase the diverse offerings of Downtown Lakeland and the literary artists of our community as well as help bring awareness to the joy of writing.
-The Lakeland Christina Rotary Club will distribute free children’s books (while supplies last) and Elder Point Ministries will also be selling used books to raise money to support their service in the community.
